Post-storm repair

Hail-damaged slopes replaced and flashed to match the existing roof where the assembly was still sound.

A localized hail storm scarred the south and west roof faces while the north slope still had acceptable granule cover. The homeowner wanted repairs aligned with the adjuster’s scope — without paying for a full roof the policy wouldn’t cover.

We traced all soft spots on the deck, replaced three sheets of OSB, and installed matching architectural shingles pulled from the closest available production run. Garage tie-in flashing was rebuilt after wind had lifted the starter course.

Documentation checklist

  • Date-stamped photos: impact mapping, deck cuts, finished weave
  • Line-item scope cross-walked to adjuster PDF
  • Invoices coded for ACV vs recoverable depreciation (owner’s CPA request)

Repair workflow

  1. Inspect: Ground, ladder, and attic photos of leak paths.
  2. Isolate: Remove only damaged courses; protect dry fields with tarps.
  3. Rebuild: Deck patches, synthetic underlayment in opened areas, new shingles.
  4. Verify: Hose test at wall tie-in; magnet sweep; written labor warranty note.

Repair totals always depend on how much deck is soft and whether we can blend color. Use the calculator below for a full replacement ballpark; partial work is usually a fraction of that — we’ll itemize on site.

Before & after

After the storm

Homeowners remember whether the crew explained insurance line items honestly and whether the repair still matches two winters later.
